The Podcast

Welcome to the Tom Petty Project! This is the podcast that digs into the entire Tom Petty catalog song by song, album by album and includes conversations with musicians, fans, and people connected with Tom along the way.

Merchandise

You'll notice that the name of the store front is 8NINTEY8 rather than The Tom Petty Project. This was part of a decision reached in consultation with the Tom Petty estate to keep my designs available but not breaching any trademark issues. They were wonderfully accomodating about this and I've only gained more respect for the way they handle Tom's legacy as a result of it.

Starting with Tom Petty’s first song from his first album, the host, Kevin Brown, takes the listener on an enthusiastic and chronological song by song journey into Petty’s decades spanning songbook. The episodes are expertly researched, masterfully delivered, and easily digested (most episodes are 10-15 minutes in duration). To maximize the experience, it is as is advisable to first listen to the song under review (even if you know it), then listen to Kevin’s discussion, and then listen to the song again. By devoting about 20 minutes to each song, the listener will certainly develop a deeper appreciation for the genius of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

Thank you for making this podcast. I’ve been a Tom Petty fan since 1982. Seen him in concert 20+ times. Enjoying this song by song look at his music. Love the fact you hear so much more in the music than I do and you share that.
